About Us
The Wildlife Trusts are a federated movement of 46 charities, supported by a central charity, the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts. Together we have more than 911,000 members, 35,000 volunteers and 2,800 staff across the UK. We are at an exciting moment in our 110-year history, with the development of an ambitious new strategy, setting out a vision of nature in recovery, with abundant, diverse wildlife and natural processes creating wilder landscapes where people and nature thrive.
Wildlife Trusts care for - and have restored - some of the most special places for wildlife in the UK. Collectively we manage more than 2,300 nature reserves, operate 123 visitor and education centres and own 29 working farms. We undertake research, we stand up for wildlife and wild places under threat, and we help people access nature.
The next few years will be critical in determining what kind of world we all live in. We need to urgently reverse the loss of wildlife and put nature into recovery at scale if we are to prevent climate and ecological disaster. We recognise that this will require big, bold changes in the way The Wildlife Trusts work, not least in how we inspire and mobilise people and support them to take action for nature.
About You
Do you work in governance or compliance and want to join at the heart of an organisation that is looking to influence global change in restoring nature. Having launched a new collective strategy for The Wildlife Trusts federation last year, you will be joining the Governance and Compliance Team at Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts at an exciting time in our development. To help deliver the strategy, you can bring your skills and experience to help ensure that we have the appropriate responsibility and accountability within the leadership of the organisation, and that we execute these in an effective and efficient manner.
You will be responsible for all aspects of committee management and help ensure our compliance with the Charity Governance Code and support the Compliance Work Group to ensure that as a charity and Royal Charter Company we meet all our legal and regulatory requirements. You will also support the development of our trustees and the circa 500 trustees across the federation through the management of the governance section of our intranet and the development of our trustee talent & skills programme.
We are looking for someone who is highly organised and diligent professional with an eye for detail, strong administrative and communication skills, together with a strong knowledge and understanding of charity governance and administrative management. As you would be involved with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders you will also be good communicator with a confident approach.
You will be working in and contributing to a highly successful charity, with strong vision, bags of ambition and a fantastic culture and leadership team. A competitive salary and benefits package and great personal development opportunities.
If you are ready to contribute to making a lasting impact, then join us as our Governance and Compliance Officer.
